Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you all for the “5th Biennial Conference of Gastrointestinal Infection Society of India – GISICON 2015” from November 6-7, 2015 organized by Departments of Microbiology & Medicine, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Jammu under the aegis of Gastrointestinal Infection Society of India.

This two day event will focus on the recent advances in the diagnosis and management of Gastrointestinal infections. We expect this year’s conference to build upon the previous initiative of GISI in networking together a large number of Microbiologists and Gastroenterologists within North India and beyond.

Named after Raja Jambu Lochan who found divine inspiration when he saw a Lion and a Goat drinking water together on the banks of a river, he envisaged a land of cultural diversity. And thus till date, although Jammu is famous as the land of Dogra warrior, there is a visible mix of different faiths and blend of cultures – Kashmiri, Pahari, Dogra and Punjabi. Dogra rulers built several Temples and enshrined local Deities, imparting a sense of Holiness and Spirituality to the air. Since then, the city of Jammu has come to be known as the ‘City of Temples’. Innumerable temples and shrines, with glittering ‘shikhars’ soaring into the sky, dot the city’s skyline, creating the ambiance of a holy and peaceful city. Famous among these is the 130 years old largest temple complex in northern India called Raghunath temple. Studded with an incredibly beautiful landscape, this winter capital of the State is the leaping off point for the magnificent religious and natural attractions that lure the tourists and devotees to the other parts of this hilly region. Jammu will have a pleasant weather in November with temperature around 30 degrees. Those going to Vaishno Devi shrine or Patnitop may require light woolen clothing.

This conference is also being registered with J&K State Medical Council for CME credit points.

The Organizing Committee would be delighted to welcome you. We look forward to an exciting meeting that promises great scientific debate and enjoyable social interaction. We hope you enjoy your visit to the City of Temples.

With warm wishes and regards.
